Prime Minister, David Cameron Praises Young Activists

This evening Conservative Future - the youth movement of the Conservative Party - hosted a reception at the Westminster Park Plaza Hotel for Branch Chairman from across the United Kingdom. This was to thank them for their efforts.

The reception was honoured to have both the Prime Minister, David Cameron MP and Party Co-Chairman, Lord Feldman address the gathering of around seventy guests. Both men backed a modern, dynamic and forward-looking Conservative Future and praised recently elected National Chairman, Mr. Ben Howlett, and the National Executive, for the hard work they have done, describing it as

"A vital component in the Conservative Party."

Claire Hilley, Conservative Future Deputy Chairman for Membership, said:

"Over the last few months we have been collating activists membership data in a bid to create Conservative Future's first ever centralised membership database which will allow us to communicate with our members nationally. I'm pleased to announce that we have gathered over 5,000 new activists contact details which puts us in a position to push for more members than ever before.

Conservative Future has the largest youth membership of any political youth organisation in the United Kingdom, surpassing both Liberal Youth and Young Labour.

Giles McNeill, Chairman of Gainsborough CF, said:

"It was a really good evening, meeting up with colleagues from across Britain's is always very welcome; I was particularly please to see representation from Northern Ireland.

"Naturally having the opportunity to speak with the Prime Minister is always a massive honour and privilege, and of course we can look forward to seeing him in the county in the near future."

Simon Cavalier-Jones Quits Election Race

Lincolnshire's Simon Cavalier-Jones who until tonight had been in the running for the National Chairmanship of Conservative Future - the youth wing of the Conservative Party - announced that he was quitting the race.

In a message to supporters Mr. Cavalier-Jones said:

"I am pulling out of the race to be the next CF Chair. Unfortunately this is not due to any exciting revelation's about my private life, but due to new work related commitment's.


"I would like to thank everybody who has worked on my campaign, you have done a brilliant job. Namely I would like to thank (In no particular order) Philip Smith, Hamish Stewart, Muheed, Sophie Shrubsole, Jack Whalley, Reza Shah, Giles McNeill, Ed Turner, Luke Springthorne, Ben Mallett, Nic Careem, James Deighton, Chris Southeran, Mr Trynka-Watson X2, Annesley Abercorn, Ben Harris Quinney and of course Mrs Hamster. These are just a few of the people who have helped out or had to listen to my moaning!

"I am supporting Craig Cox for Chair and I hope you will do the same."

With the closure of nomination tomorrow at noon it is now widely expected that the fight will be between Cllr. Ben Howlett and Mr. Craig Cox.

Lincolnshire CF Endorse Simon Cavalier-Jones

Last night the Officers of Conservative Future in Lincolnshire endorsed local candidate, Mr. Simon Cavalier-Jones, who is in the running for the National Chairmanship of the Conservative Party's youth organisation.

Mr. Cavalier-Jones has said:

"Following many years as an ordinary member of Conservative Future, I am standing for National Chairman to try and create an organisation we can be proud of. I want to see CF nurture the brightest and best talent into the highest levels of the Conservative Party.


"I want to see CF become an organisation that is taken seriously and that we are all proud of.

"As Chairman I will tirelessly champion the views of the membership, and stand up on issues that matter to you."

Lincolnshire CF is relatively small compared with other areas, and Mr. Cavalier Jones was always likely to secure the endorsement of his home patch, nevertheless Mr. Cavalier-Jones will no doubt be happy to have received such support.

CF in Lincolnshire Deputy Chairman, Giles McNeill, said:

"Tonight we have met the two candidates, who have declared and remain in the race. Both Ben and Simon have their good points and are passionate about making CF better in the future.

"We believe that Simon has the experience, key skills, and intellect to take Conservative Future forward, building an organisation which is national in scope and outlook and less focussed on London."
